The Candid Frame #138 - Gerd Ludwig

Gerd Ludwig is a National Geographic photographer who is best known for his long-term work documenting the impact of the Chernobyl nuclear accident in the former Soviet Union. This personal project has allowed him to the tell the story of the human toll on the people decades after the initial, dramatic events of the accident itself. For decades, he has also been working on assignments focusing on Russia and Eastern Europe, which has held a personal fascination for him. His book, Broken Empire: After the Fall of the USSR is an incredible visual telling of a country struggling to redefine itself.

He has recently released an iPad App which showcases his work on Chernobyl with still, video and audio commentary. The Long Shadow of Chernobyl provides a unique method for telling the 25-years story of the accident and its long term impact on a country and a people.

Penny De Los Santos is a travel and food culture photographer whose images have appeared in numerous publications including National Geographic, Savuer and Texas Monthly magazines to name just a few. Her life behind the camera has provided her the opportunity to travel to over 30 countries to document stories about history, culture and society revolving around the common language of food. She has been honored with numerous awards and grants for her projects and work including College Photographer of the Year,  the California New Media Award and the Canon USA Photography Grant. Joe McNally has enjoyed a lifetime making some of photography's most iconic and memorable images. Whether it's been for newspapers or magazines including the National Geographic, his technical expertise with light and his ability to make the impossible images happen have earned him a deserved reputation of one of the world's best photographers. The Candid Frame #59 - Reza


Reza is a world famous National Geographic photographer whose work has been published in numerous international publications including Time, Vanity Fair, Newsweek, New York Times Magazine and more.

He was awarded the Hope Prize for his works on behalf of Rwandan refugees. He also founded the Afghan Media and Culture Center to promote the principles of a free press to the men and women of Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban. He was also honored with the Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
